On Feb 22, Discovery Channel released the documentaryExploring China's New Dairy Powderglobally, recording the development of China's dairy industry and exploring what’s the science behind Chinese milk powder. On the first day of its release, it was watched 30 million times and became popular on media platforms at home and abroad including SinaWeibo, Bilibili, TikTok, YouTube and so on.
Discovery的探索官Rachele，來自意大利，曾經(jīng)采訪過全球多家知名企業(yè)。她表示，在來中國的前幾年，被問及最多的問題，就是如何才能買到國外的奶粉。但如今，這個情況在悄然改變，“最好的奶粉就在中國”，是什么在改變中國奶粉?這些變化是如何一步步實現(xiàn)的?Discovery帶著這些疑問，選擇走進(jìn)中國乳業(yè)，通過深入君樂寶的牧草種植基地、奶牛養(yǎng)殖牧場、奶粉工廠，從源頭開始一探究竟。
Rachele, the Discovery host, comes from Italy. She has interviewed people from famous enterprises around the world. She said that in the first few years that she lived in China, a question that came up frequently was where to buy imported milk powder. But now, the situation is changing. "The best milk powder should be in China.” What is changing in Chinese milk powder? How are these changes taking place? With these questions, Rachel went to Chinese dairy enterprise Junlebao Dairy, and visited its grass plantation, dairy farming base and milk powder factory.
養(yǎng)好牛：中國奶牛的輕奢生活
每年有上千萬名寶寶在中國出生，要滿足他們的營養(yǎng)需求，無疑需要特殊的加持。Rachele來到的第一站，是奶牛養(yǎng)殖基地，這里的“擠奶黑科技”讓Discovery的探索官驚嘆。
Millions of babies are born in China every year. To fulfill their nutritional needs, there should be concentrated efforts. Rachele first visited Junlebao Dairy’s dairy farming base. The hardcore technology here impressed the Discovery host very much.
不同于傳統(tǒng)的擠奶方式，這里的奶牛只要排隊站上自己特定的“崗位”，大轉(zhuǎn)盤就能夠給80頭奶牛同時自動化擠奶。而且，這些自動化設(shè)備的智能設(shè)定會最大程度地保證奶牛的舒適。設(shè)備使用的吸奶器模擬了小牛吃奶的吮吸感，在感受到?jīng)]有奶的時候自動脫落。
This giant turntable is a big departure from traditional farming methods, the equipment can milk 80 cows simultaneously assuming the cows remain at their posts. The facility is packed with intelligent equipment to maximize the cows’ comfort. The milking machine recreates the sensations of a feeding calf. And when there is no milk left, it can automatically detach itself.
最讓Rachele不可思議的是，擠出的生牛乳通過170米長的低溫潔凈管道直接進(jìn)入工廠加工，從擠奶到加工只需兩個小時，無需運輸與存儲。“看不到一滴奶，但是奶粉已經(jīng)加工好了!”
The most unbelievable thing for Rachele is that the raw milk here goes directly to the processing plant through a 170-meter-long low-temperature tube. There is no extra transportation or storage. It takes only two hours before the milk enters the processing steps. "Without seeing a drop of milk, the milk powder is produced!"
這項“鮮奶密閉傳輸系統(tǒng)”技術(shù)是獲得了中國專利技術(shù)認(rèn)證，確保了產(chǎn)品的安全、營養(yǎng)、新鮮、高品質(zhì)，也保留了牛奶中更多的活性營養(yǎng)成分。
This system has obtained the certification of Utility Model Patent. It can guarantee the safety, nutrition, freshness and quality of the product and help retain the active nutrients in milk.

The cows’ job are built around a comfortable life. Junlebao's cowshed can take good care of 120,000 cows at the same time. The secret is that each cow is fitted with a smart collar, which can accurately identify the rumination, exercise and oestrus conditions of cows every day through big data and relay real-time data about their health. It will also input the milk yield into the system and output statistics, which provides efficient, fast and accurate first-hand data to realize intelligent feeding.
種好草：牛的專屬廚師都是“博士”
在這里，奶牛們一天的伙食費達(dá)到了80塊錢一天。這個價位的餐標(biāo)在奶牛界是一種什么樣的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)?Rachele的第二站是種草基地。
Here, the food expenses for each cow is an incredible 80 yuan ($12.6) a day. To figure out what this kind of price is like in the dairy industry, Rachele's second stop is the grass plantation.
君樂寶的種草基地位于張家口，是中國燕麥的三大主產(chǎn)區(qū)之一。這里生產(chǎn)的燕麥草，在收割時牧草不是金黃色，而是綠色，原來燕麥草在灌漿期(乳熟期)營養(yǎng)成分更為全面，很容易被奶牛吸收，所以收割的牧草都是綠色，君樂寶不惜成本為奶牛供給好的食材。
Junlebao Dairy’s grass plantation is located in Zhangjiakou, which is one of the three main oat producing areas in China. People harvest the grass whenit is greenrather thangolden yellow.The reason for this is that theoat grass has the most nutrients during this grain filling period, which makes it easier to be absorbed by dairy cows. That’s why they harvest when it’s green. This is to prepare the best food for cows.
君樂寶在張家口壩上草原布局了38萬畝專屬草場，君樂寶與中國農(nóng)業(yè)大學(xué)草業(yè)研究所合作，在品種改良等方面取得重要突破，牧草品質(zhì)已接近國際水平，大大減少了對國外的依賴。
Junlebao planted around 253 square kilometers of grassland on Bashang Grassland in Zhangjiakou. Through working with the grassland research institute of China Agricultural University, Junlebao made key breakthroughs in variety improvement of the grass, which has improved the grass quality to an international level and greatly reduced the dependence on foreign product.
截至目前，君樂寶共擁有牧草種植基地50萬畝。君樂寶表示，自有草場是全產(chǎn)業(yè)鏈的起點，是奶牛養(yǎng)殖的基礎(chǔ)。通過自己種植牧草，把產(chǎn)業(yè)鏈延伸到最上游的牧草環(huán)節(jié)，從而真正做到全產(chǎn)業(yè)鏈自有和自控，從一株草開啟優(yōu)質(zhì)奶粉的孕育。
Up to now, Junlebao owns around 333 sq km of grassland. According to the company, such self-owned grassland is the starting point of Junlebao's whole industrial chain and the foundation of how they raise their cows. 奶粉也有“身份證”：“一罐雙碼”安全追溯系統(tǒng)
據(jù)經(jīng)濟(jì)日報報道，自2016年起，中國嬰幼兒乳粉市場規(guī)模持續(xù)擴(kuò)大，成為全球第二大嬰童消費市場，2019年市場規(guī)模達(dá)近2000億元。而像君樂寶這樣的現(xiàn)代化工廠，支撐起每年數(shù)千萬中國寶寶的奶粉需求，中國消費者越來越信任國產(chǎn)奶粉。中國乳制品工業(yè)協(xié)會數(shù)據(jù)顯示，2019年國內(nèi)嬰幼兒奶粉占據(jù)了67%的市場份額，成為滋養(yǎng)中國寶寶健康成長的主力軍。
According to the Economic Daily, China's infant milk powder market has continued to expand since 2016 and has become the world's second-largest market. How is the milk powder produced? Following the Discovery’s camera, the factory is like the set of a sci-fi film:
牛奶進(jìn)到工廠，要經(jīng)過除菌分離、均質(zhì)、脫氣、巴氏消毒，再到后續(xù)的四效蒸發(fā)系統(tǒng)。生產(chǎn)線上遍布了1500多個數(shù)字傳感器，所有生產(chǎn)流程都是完全智能化，高科技設(shè)備有條不紊地完成著每一個環(huán)節(jié)。
When milk enters the factory, it is sterilized and separated and then goes through homogenization, degassing and pasteurization, and then its transported to the subsequent four-effect evaporation system. There are more than 1,500 digital sensors on the production line. All production processes are completely intelligent. High-tech equipment completes every process in order.
雖說是奶粉加工廠，但操作人員并沒有跟牛奶發(fā)生直接的接觸，只需要待在中控室里，就能確保各項操作準(zhǔn)確無誤。
Although it is a milk powder processing plant, the operators finish the procedures without touching any of the fresh milk. They only need to stay in the control room to ensure exacting standards.
這座工廠生產(chǎn)的每一罐奶粉在罐底和罐內(nèi)各有一個二維碼，掃描罐底碼，就可以看到它的原料、牛奶，它的成品的檢驗報告，就像人的身份證一樣，這罐奶粉等出廠時，它所有的信息拿手機(jī)一掃就可以全部知道。
Under and inside every tin of milk powder produced by this factory, there is a QR code. By scanning the code at the bottom, you can look up the inspection report of its raw material, the milk and its finished products. When this tin of milk powder leaves the factory, consumers can find out all about it just by scanning it with their mobile phones.
"一罐雙碼"是君樂寶率先發(fā)起的一次奶粉行業(yè)的安全追溯系統(tǒng)的創(chuàng)新，是食品安全追溯體系的創(chuàng)新模式，可以較大限度地保障產(chǎn)品品質(zhì)安全。
The QR code system is an innovation initiated by Junlebao Dairy to trace the safety of the milk powder in the industry. It is a new model of the food safety traceability system, which can ensure the product quality and safety to a large extent.
